Peanut Butter & Jelly Shake

IMG_9025I rarely have peanut butter (I always use other nut/seed butters instead – peanuts contain very high amounts of aflatoxin, a natural toxin produced by mold) but sometimes treat myself to organic PB & this shake was just too yummy not to share. Other foods contain aflatoxins as well (pecans, pistachios, walnuts, milk, grains, soybeans, spices), it’s just a matter of being aware and not over doing any foods. The good thing, if you eat a healthy diet rich with antioxidant-rich vegetables/fruit they will most likely reduce the aflatoxin’s carcinogenic effect within the body – all the more reasons to be sure to eat real foods!!

PB & J Shake:
handful frozen organic berries
1/4 frozen banana
packed handful of spinach
rounded tablespoon of organic peanut butter
scoop of Rockin’ Wellness chocolate superfood powder
chilled water to cover almost 3/4 of what you put in blender

Blend all ingredients well (I swear by my NutriBullet). I always add extra goodies to my shakes for added nutrition like spirulina powder, cinnamon, collagen powder, Brazil nuts or hemp seeds. Hope you enjoy as much as I do!
