Cold & Flu is NOT a season

Behold, my most shared image on social media – I’ve been posting every year since 2013!

Use this as your reminder this time of year to stay very hydrated (through plenty of water, herbal teas, nourishing soups and water-rich fruits/vegetables), get outside for a walk in the sun (and/or eat vitamin-D rich foods or supplement with D3 please), prioritize rest and get to bed at a decent hour (earlier than you would in the summer), and be mindful of how much sugar you’re consuming.

Speaking of sugar, did you know that it takes about 75 grams of sugar to weaken the immune system? Sugar triggers low-grade inflammation in the body which can weaken the immune system, making it susceptible to viruses and bacteria, and can also contribute to chronic diseases, heart disease, and diabetes. Suppression of the immune system starts as soon as 30-minutes after the consumption of sugar and can last up to five hours.

Sorry to be a buzzkill, but this is the time/season to move inward, do less, rest more, eat warming foods…and we do the complete opposite!

We can’t forget to understand and follow the rhythms of nature. She’s always got our best health in mind!
