DIY Face Masks

The skincare industry will make you feel like you need to purchase the latest and greatest mask out there to hydrate and/or exfoliate your skin. But you can easily pamper your skin at home with simple, effective (and fun) DIY masks! These natural face masks nourish the skin with pure, chemical-free ingredients while providing hydration, exfoliation, and brightening benefits. Here are just a few suggestions of ones you can whip up with ingredients you probably have in your kitchen right now:

Hydrating Mask:
Mash ½ a ripe avocado in a bowl, then mix in 1 tablespoon of honey and 2 tablespoons of plain yogurt until smooth. Apply evenly to clean skin and leave on for 15–20 minutes. Rinse with warm water and pat dry. Follow with your favorite moisturizing products to seal in moisture.

Brightening Mask:
In a small bowl, mix 1 teaspoon of turmeric powder, 2 tablespoons of plain yogurt, and 1 teaspoon of lemon juice. Apply a thin layer to your face, avoiding the eye area. Let it sit for 10–15 minutes before rinsing off with lukewarm water. Follow with moisturizer.

Exfoliating Mask:
Blend 2 tablespoons of ground oatmeal with 1 tablespoon of honey and ½ a mashed banana. Gently massage onto damp skin in circular motions, then leave on for 10–15 minutes. Rinse with warm water and pat dry. Follow with your favorite moisturizing products to seal in moisture.

If these are too much for you, simply using honey as a mask (pictured here!) is a beautiful and wonderful way to refresh and moisturize your skin!
