DIY Hand Sanitizer

Each time I see a Purell bottle I want to throw it in the trash.  Conventional hand sanitizers kills ALL of the bacteria on our skin, removes our natural skin oil & totally dries it out. It is not healthy to kill all of the bacteria on the skin because not all bacteria are bad! Some bacteria actually help fight the bad bacteria, viruses, and fungus that can make us sick. By eliminating all of the bacteria – our skin is more “naked” than it already is – with lowered protection and lowered immunity. Even worse, these hand sanitizers contain hormone-disrupting toxic chemicals – not what any of us need! The good news is, a simple google search for DIY Natural Hand Sanitzer is just a few clicks away using a few items you may already have in your house, along with a few essential oils (of your preference, that’s why I suggest your own google search). photo

My favorite natural hand sanitizer is:

5 drops vitamin E oil (optional, but this makes for soft hands)

2 tablespoons witch hazel

2 tablespoons aloe vera juice

5 drops lemon essential oil

5 drops tea tree essential oil

Water

In a 2 ounce spray bottle, combine the vitamin E oil, witch hazel and essential oils. Place the sprayer on tightly and shake well for 15-20 seconds to combine. Open the bottle, and fill to the top with water. Replace sprayer, and shake again for 15-20 seconds. Spritz when your dirty hands need a freshen-up!
